My history with the Maltese
breed is relatively short compared to many of my breeder friends. I
started out showing horses from the time I was 10 years old. At first, I
had Hunter-Jumpers, and I then found that I really loved the Arabians.
After years of showing and breeding Arabs, I decided to switch to
something a little smaller. Next, came " Topper" . My husband, Steve, was so upset with Munchkin’s death; he asked me if I would consider finding a little male pet, for him. Topper was a year and a half old when he came to us. Steve slept by his cage for a week, until Topper settled in. Topper’s job around here is to make Steve happy, and that, he does. At this point I decided that I would like to try conformation and would like to breed these wonderful little dogs. A few years later, I purchased " Naysmith What a Little Diva ". Diva is a beautiful bitch that absolutely hated showing. After talking with her breeder, Bea Naysmith, she agreed that I could breed her with out her being finished. Diva’s first litter was one puppy, a pet boy.Well, since this was my first litter, one puppy, you can guess, I still have Tempo. " SMC’s Music Man " has a home for life. Tempo is started in obedience as well as agility and is in “In Line Canines”, an obedience drill team. He is the smallest dog on the drill team, and the only one with a “pony tail” as every one says. Diva was bred again, and this time we had 2 puppies, a boy and a girl. The boy is at his new home, and I kept SMC’s My Wild Irish Rose. This was Diva’s last litter. After a C-section with each litter, and mastitis with the second litter, Diva was spayed. I now, have Rosie. She is a beautiful puppy with great pigment, a lovely coat. and an extremely “showy” personality. As you may have guessed, I’m really excited about this promising little bitch. |
